Hot Bubbling Gore

The conservative media sphere has been ablaze the past week over a Al Gore gaffe on the earth’s interior temperature. Yes, Gore blundered — it’s thousands of degrees, not millions. Social networking organs and conservative talk radio bastions are gleefully roasting Gore and deriding his “scientific blunder” and bolstering their climate change denial talking point chest.

Did you also hear me defend him against criticisms that he is advocating an agenda which he is profiting from? I've heard this from several conservatives, and it's a terribly misguided criticism.

I also even partially defended him on this gaffe by saying it's the sort of understandable thing people in public occasionally mess up on. Of course we still had to have fun with it, too, as it falls within Gore's well-established pattern for hyperbole and exaggeration. Hey, if you can't make jokes when a guy misses something in his claimed area of expertise by a factor of a thousand, when can you make them?

No, did not hear that defense nor any of the WWYS callers as I can't get radio reception at home —but did catch you again in 6 pm hour still talking about it…

Hearing the clip and seeing the youtube video again, I failed to see what's so mock-able about it other than the misspoken bit which happens to anybody (me be /guilty on many occasions) of flubbing a fact…

…OTOH, I'm sure Gore will cease with that cite, whereas you and many of your listeners (all the while laughing at Gore "science" blunder) will continue to deny science:

* …argue that the Earth is thousands of years old, not billions as science claims…

* …disbelieve evolution, which is as accepted by nearly all scientists and for which would get you laughed out of any legitimate, accredited university…

* …deny the prevailing scientific consensus (and visual evidence, i.e., glacial retreat, ocean SST, etc.…) on anthropogenic climate change, and amplify the few renegades, crackpots and PR flacks who contend otherwise…
