Wacky Wednesday--You Should Never Trust Anyone

Note: Before reading the following arguments, please understand that they are not what I believe. On Wednesdays, I deliberately argue for wrong ideas, challenging my listeners to call and defend the obvious right answer, which is usually far harder than one would expect. This is a summary of what Wacky Andrew will be arguing, not a representation of what real Andrew believes.

~Giving people trust they’ve earned is risky, but giving people trust they haven’t earned is far more risky.
~People betray you when you trust them.
~By definition, trusting people puts you at risk.
~Trust is bad stewardship since it’s not a safe thing.
~If you are known as a truster, then people come to expect it of you.
~How do you justify not trusting everyone the same or giving everyone as much extra bump as you give some?
~Why would you rationally want to give people more than they deserve?
~Vulnerability entails giving the other person an incentives to exploit us.

~We have a word for people who are really trusting:
gullible.
~Mankind is depraved, therefore fundamentally untrustworthy.
