Hello Andrew,

I am commenting on the question "Can a Christian believe in the Bible and in evolution?" I am not certain how well this question plays out or if it is a fair comparison. I propose that the answer is yes, a Christian can believe in the Bible and recognize that evolution exists. Evolution is just another process and typically a difficult topic to discuss, particularly in Christian company due to sometimes very strong negative reactions. Can the inspired Word of God be put in the same context as a system of adaptation or maladaptation to environmental conditions? Certainly, we do not understand all the intricacies of the mechanisms resulting in evolution and sometimes there are errors, but this does not invalidate the existance of a physical process. It simply shows that we don't know everything about anything. If errors and misunderstanding forms the basis of our dismissal of physical processes, then how can we validate an argument that the Bible is God's Word, since we make so many errors and often have misunderstandings regarding the Bible? How can the argument be made that science must be without error but that Christian beliefs and practices are valid regardless of occasional error? Perhaps it is more important to differentiate between the Creator and the creation, the guidance given by the Creator and an elegant physical system that people could never have dreamed up on their own. Perhaps a good question would be "Why would evolution be considered an opposing alternative to belief in the Bible?" Consider that there are many complicated physical systems but it seems that evolution has been tagged as a common enemy by some Christians. My apologies for this long and probably awkward comment.
