AOL will apparently acquire Huffington Post for $315 million. Although people who think this weird because HP is so heavily leftist, I think it makes sense. I'm actually in favor of media outlets having clear bias branding, and AOL can no longer pretend to be unbiased journalism. The amazing thing is that other outlets (NBC, NYT, etc.) have such a pretense. The real question, as this excellent column raises, is the future impact of "aggregator" sites on the "real" journalists that feed them when those "real news" sites no longer can afford to produce the news the derivatives depend on.
