Infamous in and out of Christian circles (inside for being a false teacher and stumbling block for non-Christians, outside for being a loon), Harold Camping suffered a mild stroke this weekend. His wife says he is recovering. Now, what’s interesting to me about this story is, obviously, how people react to it. I suppose some will read this as a sign from God about His displeasure. Well, that’s the problem with supposed signs from God these days; they just don’t seem to be as clear as they should be. It’s been three weeks since the Rapture didn’t come, and that’s a pretty large gap, symbolically speaking. So, I’d just chalk it up to the fact that he’s 89. The key for me is that we be praying both for his recovery and that God would use this incident (or any other) to reach Harold and return (or draw) his heart to Christ and solid Biblical doctrine. What I’m most eager to hear is not that his body is healed, but that his preaching and beliefs are healed. That would be a far more God-glorifying miracle to behold.
