Which is worse, moral hypocrisy or immoral integrity?
Seeing recent scandals like those involving Rep. Weiner, Gov. Schwarzenegger, and Sen. Edwards, a question worth asking is whether it’s worse to be the sort of person who advocates high moral standards and then fails them (perhaps spectacularly) or the sort of person who advocates low standards and hits them. Who has a more harmful effect on society and the culture struggles: the advocate of immorality who lives down to his creed or the so-called moral hypocrite whose private behavior violates his public endorsements? Which of these two people is in a better (or worse) position to come closer to Christ?
