As happens every year at this time, the price of roses is going way up from most floral shops. And although I know this will anger many women and all florists, I say, "Don't be dumb. Don't buy roses for Monday, unless you get a smokin' deal." If you knew that houses would be double or triple their normal price in the second week of February, what fool would buy a house then? Instead, buy roses two or three times throughout the year and do something wiser for Valentine's Day. Also, not all relationships fall in the "you need to prove you're serious about this relationship" category, FYI.
