Do you remember how until recently it was popular for some people to express the idea that President Obama is secretly a Muslim radical who wants to cooperate with bringing sharia law into the United States? Well, I haven’t heard that in the past week and a half. I wonder if we’ve finally heard the last of the “secret Muslim conspiracy” folks now that Obama has killed the leader of the radical Muslim world, Osama bin Laden.
“Oh, that’s just his extremely clever way of throwing you off the scent, by killing one of his own.” You know the funny thing about conspiracy theories is that no amount of evidence can ever overcome them. The less evidence of them, the more well-crafted they are. And the more evidence against them, the more savvy you have to be to not be befuddled by all those made-up facts.
“No, he really is a Muslim, just a more moderate one who disagrees with bin Laden’s method of advancing Islam.” Oh, so the “real” Obama we all need to be terrified of is the one who hates radical terrorists and acts to protect us from them as a ploy to make us more safe and trust him; the sort of Muslim we’re always saying needs to stand up and reject forcibly the violent perversions of his religion? You’re right. I’m so scared now I can barely type.
