I know everyone is talking about the death of Osama Bin Laden, and rightly so, but I thought it was important to take a moment to observe an historical event of far greater human significance than the death of one mass murderer. On May 2, 1611, the Authorized Version or the King James Bible was first published. Even if you think (as I do) that newer translations are better, particularly for today, it’s impossible to argue that another Bible translation has had anything like the impact of this one on history and the dissemination of the Scriptures into the hands of ordinary Christians.
