03/15/11 2PM NYC abortion rate 41% overall, 60% among blacks

Data released in January from 2009 about New York City abortion rates is incredibly depressing. The overall rate is 41%, and that rate skyrockets to 60% among blacks. This means that for every five pregnancies in NYC, there are only three live births because two have been aborted. Among blacks, reverse the numbers. For each two new children, three black babies were killed in the womb. As this outstanding article in the NY Post points out, “It is indeed heartbreaking that 60 percent of all unborn African-American babies are aborted. Just think about it: Black women in our city have three abortions for every two live births. The Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Nation are giving "fist bumps" all around.” So how does the argument that better safe sex programs would solve this work? Oh, yeah, they’ve been active in the city and supported by the state for decades. The track record is clear. If we hate babies (and black babies in particular!), we should keep abortion safe and legal because it most certainly will not be rare.
